Lacquered leather is a kind of imitation leather, which is made of split leather, after being painted (composed of linseed oil and nitrocellulose) or coated (coated with a layer of polyurethane or polyvinyl chloride film), and then embossed to imitate geometric or animal skin pattern, or extruded to wrinkle grain. The coating and film are not more than 0.15mm. This kind of leather has poor surface fastness and wear resistance. It is the cheapest of the same kind of leather and is mostly used for bags.

In addition, there are (1) laminated patent leather, commercially known as special patent leather, whose surface is covered with a layer of plastic with a thickness of more than 0.15 mm but not more than half of the total thickness, and has a mirror like smooth surface like patent leather.

② Metallized leather, i.e. leather coated or covered with metal (e.g. silver, gold, copper or aluminum) powder or foil.

Patent leather is mainly used in the production of leather bags. In the domestic market, leather bags are usually marked as genuine leather and are genuine leather. Nine out of the sales of leather bags are made of patent leather.
