Industrial application of gum
① Gum arabic. It is mainly the secretion of Acacia senegal. Light yellow to yellowish brown solid, brittle and shiny. Its solution viscosity is low and can be prepared into a solution with a concentration of more than 50%, and its adhesive properties are independent of viscosity. The world's annual output is 50000 tons, of which 90% is produced in Sudan. It is the most widely used gum in industry. It is commonly used in food, medicine, cosmetics, pigment, ink, printing, textile, etc. it is also used in the inner wall of oil depot to prevent leakage.
② Tragacanth gum. It is the secretion of acantha tragacantha (Astragalus gummifera). Among the gum, its solution has the highest viscosity and is mainly used in food, medicine and cosmetics.
③ Peach glue. It is prepared by hydrolysis of peach secretion. It is mainly used for watercolor pigment and printing.
④ Larch arabinogalactan. It is a kind of low viscosity and high dispersion gum, which is mainly used in medicine, food and so on.
